In addition to the confound you mention (presence of non-residents), I&#039;d guess there is another problem with this statement: aren&#039;t the &#039;victims&#039; of a significant percentage of property crimes in the Loop actually businesses?   So asserting an individual is more likely to become a victim there would be misleading based on those numbers.  

Obviously there are other issues, such as the differential likelihood of a crime being reported.

In any case, I think most intelligent people know why Hyde Park or Uptown have a reputation as &#039;dangerous&#039; among certain members of the condo-buying public; many of those people imagine even very wealthy neighborhoods with significant black population are fantastically dangerous.  They&#039;d be frightened out of their minds by even the chichiest sections of South Shore &amp; Chatham.  I imagine your post attempts to counteract this with some objective evidence.
